The murder conviction of Edward Wycoff, sentenced to death in the grisly stabbings of his sister and brother-in-law at their El Cerrito home 15 years ago, has been overturned by California’s highest court, which ruled that a Contra Costa County trial judge erred by not holding a mental-competency hearing for the man who turned his trial into a bizarre “entertainment show” with antics that included cruelly taunting the victims’ children. ![]()
